Artist's Description

I took this photograph of the old yellow barn owned by the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit priests and brothers in residence in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. At one time, the Jesuits had a full time working farm, producing most of their own food for a thriving community of priests and brothers, most of whom had come to America from Europe to serve as missionaries in southern Louisiana. Grand Coteau was their home base. There is still a Jesuit novitiate on this site and the priests are still at work among God's people.

About Bonnie Barry

Bonnie Barry

I am a retired high school English teacher who loves photographing nature with wild birds as my main interest. I live in southwestern Louisiana and enjoy the plethora of wildlife and waterfowl indigenous to the area; I also love landscape shots of the swamplands and marshes and wetlands of our state. I try to do all this for the greater honor and glory of God who is the Creator of this beauty in abundance. I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. God bless! Bonnie
