Description
Today, October 16, is the Feast Day of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. She was a Visitation nun in the convent at Paray le Monial, France, and is noted for her visions and revelations (in the 1670s) of the Sacred Heart of Jesus who desired all men to come to Him and experience His bountiful mercy and non-judgmental love.
Today, when I went to Mass, the priest announced it was her feast day. Her name is quite familiar to me as I've studied her life in the past, written about her, and even photographed this image of her in this stained glass window just three days ago! I did not know, however, that October 16 was her Feast Day, so I was quite surprised to hear the priest's announcement before Mass.
I think these things happen providentially--to bring back to our awareness certain truths we gleaned in the past and need to revisit and reconsider in the present. We learn so much, but have to re-learn so much more.
I am happy for today's encounter with St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and for her reminder of Jesus' message to the world, a message I'm happy to share with you.
