Wonderful capture Bonnie!! f/v I find that they get bold when there is food around and they are hungry. Very hard to capture them.

Never having had the pleasure of spending time around these birds I wonder, how flighty are they? Do they hang around enough to have their portrait taken, or do they take off at the slightest movement? This is wonderful. FV
Bonnie Barry replied:
I was hiding but still pretty close to these birds when I photographed them. Sometimes they are very skittish and sometimes they get bold (probably depending on how hungry they are) and stick around even when they might feel my presence. In this case, the female was a lot more skittish than the male. She bolted at the least little sound or movement. He stuck around a bit longer. For the most part, though, I'd have to say they are flighty. They seem to see and hear better than other songbirds and respond more quickly. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement and interest, Ronda!
