Description
Every year I wait happily for the arrival of the painted bunting. Around mid April, this beautiful bird that looks like it carries a box of Crayola Crayons, makes it appearance in southern Louisiana where I live and where it mates for the summer. I usually hear it a long time before I see it. Some years I don't see it at all as it is quite elusive. Today, I was blessed to see this glorious little songbird. It landed on the birdbath on my patio, just a few feet from my back door. Happily, I was armed with my camera and ready to shoot! It was so close, I could barely fit it inside the frame. This is a full frame shot, no cropping. Hope you enjoy seeing my little visitor as much as I did! Here in Cajun French Louisiana, this bird is locally known as "nonpareil" meaning without parallel or none like it. (A slight touch of Topaz Simplify filter was added to give the photo a subtle painted look).
