Description
I photographed this male painted bunting in my yard. Here in Cajun country, the Fleur de Lis is prevalent. The French Acadians, also know as the Cajuns in Louisiana, long ago named the painted bunting "nonpareil" meaning unparalleled or without equal. Not only are its colors resplendent but his song is also, loud, melodious, and without match. The little bunting sitting on the fleur de lis gate really represents its bright presence in Louisiana as one of our state's most charming wildlife.
